A zero down payment can reduce what you pay on signing day. It can also leave you borrowing more. Before pursuing a sin enganche offer, ask for the full payment schedule and the exact amount due before you take delivery.
Check what “zero down” covers
Ask the seller to separate the vehicle price, down payment, first installment, insurance, registration and fees. An offer can have no down payment and still require cash up front. Ask which items are optional and which will be added to the loan balance.
Compare two offers for the same car
Request one written quote with no down payment and another with a down payment you can afford. Keep the vehicle and term constant. Compare the financed amount, annual interest rate, CAT (Costo Anual Total), total amount payable, and any final balloon payment. For example, on a MXN 250,000 vehicle, putting down MXN 50,000 reduces the principal to MXN 200,000 before fees and insurance. The loan quotes determine the actual cost difference.
Verify the creditor before sharing documents
Confirm which institution will issue the credit. Ask what proof of identity, income and address it requires and how it checks credit history. Use the institution’s official channel. Be wary of requests for an advance transfer to secure guaranteed approval.
